“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words”.

The Model Prayer – Matthew 6:9-13
Jesus’ instruction regarding how to pray (Luke 11:1-4)
But Deliver Us from Evil/The Evil One (v. 13)
Evil – Anything that disturbs our peace with God and hinders our relationship and communication with Him. Anything that hinders your zeal to do God’s work. Hinder who you were called to be or what we have been called to do.
Evil Within (Our Flesh): Galatians 5:13-25
- Romans 7:15-20
- Sometimes our greatest enemy is our INNER ME!
- Common Evils:
- Pride – thinking you know better than anyone else, exalting yourself above others, inability to hear from other people (Proverbs 16:18).
- Compromise – setting aside what you believe to indulge the flesh (James 4:17)
- Rationalization – Convincing yourself that what you do or say is not that bad, in comparison to others (Hebrews 3:12-13).
Evil Without (The World): 1 John 2:15-16
- When you love people and are accepting, liking or desiring of the sin that accompanies their life.
- Don’t compromise! Take a stand!
- 2 Corinthians 5:20 – You are an ambassador.
- John 17: 14-23
- Sanctify – to be set apart for Holy use.
- Be influenced by the Word and not by the world to fulfill our role as ambassadors.
The Evil One (Satan)
- John 17:15
- Satan is not:
- Omnipresence: God is everywhere at all times
- Omnipotence: God is all-powerful
- Omniscience: God is all-knowing
He is just organized.
- His characteristics are: John 10:10, John 8:44 and 1 Peter 5:8.
- Satan is an enemy of Christians, Christian families, and the Church. He comes to destroy your life and your influence.
We are Not Alone
- Do Not be a casualty of war.
- Ephesians 6:10-18. You must make an daily intentional decision.
