Main Scripture: A Study of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount – Matthew 5-7
(Matthew 7:24-29) “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” 28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Blessed are the merciful |
Those who are kind, compassionate, generous and forgiving, helping others in need. Having a feeling of sorrow over someone’s bad situation and taking action to do something about it.

Seek God for wisdom for how to help others. (Matthew 6:1-4) Forgive others and yourself. Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. |

Blessed are the pure in heart |
Singleness of motive and devotion, a heart/mind concerned solely with pleasing God; whose only interest is to serve God.

Check yourself and your motives (Psalm 139: 23-24). Live to please and serve God over all else. |
|
Blessed are the peacemakers |
Those who work for or make peace between man and man and God and man. Shalom: harmony, communion between two covenant partners.
|
Live in peace and help others to do the same. Share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others/Do the work of an evangelist (Romans 10:13-15). |
