Walking in Love and Kindness: 1 Corinthians 13
What is Love?
Agape (Greek) – affection, good-will, love, benevolence.
- An unconditional love one has for another. The type of love Christ has given us and continues to give us everyday. This same love we are required to show too others liberally and without reservation.
- Galatians 25:22-23
- Mark 12:30-31
L – love others with a genuine Agape Love
O – often look for ways to show love through your time, talent, or treasure that helps someone
V – value the differences of others as God created us uniquely for Kingdom purposes
E – encourage the hearts of others through words, deeds, or prayer with them
What is kindness?
Chrestos (Greek) – virtuous, good, mild, pleasant, of things more pleasant, of people, kind, benevolent
- As Christians, God calls us to be the light in the world, to represent Him and to love and be kind to all.
- Colossians 3:12-13
- Ephesians 4:32
K – kindness should always be shown and it is not based on how we feel..
I – instant reaction to show kindness to others.
N – never miss an opportunity to share a kind word with someone.
D – do small acts of kindness for someone regularly.
N – never miss the opportunity to demonstrate an act of kindness, big or small (Note: people are always in need and not just during the holidays.)
E – engage with a friend, family member, colleague, neighbor, classmate, co-worker “out of the norm” for you, in a meaningful way that shares the love of Christ.
S – selflessness is required in demonstrating kindness towards others.
S – seeing the best in everyone you encounter regardless of the circumstances and remember, to always pray for everyone.
Do all things with sincerity of heart and humility as this honors and glorifies our Heavenly Father!
Walk in LOVE and KINDNESS towards one another ALWAYS!
