Fellowshipping with God

  • The word fellowship is derived from the Greek word koinonia (koy·now·nee·uh) – koy-known-ya. Koinonia is a Greek work and it means sharing in, communion, spiritual fellowship, a fellowship in the spirit….
  • Fellowshipping is a derivative of the root word Fellowship which is a noun. But our focus is the verb Fellowshipping that requires action from us. Just as we discussed last week that Faith is a decision that meets with action for it to work, Fellowshipping requires intentionality on our part for it to take place.

Relationship with God

  • To fellowship with the Lord we must be in relationship with Him and to do this, we must accept Christ as our Savior (Romans 10:9-10). Once we have accepted the free gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8), then just like a natural relationship with a person you are close with, you have to build the relationship by spending time together, talking, etc.
  • God’s desire is to be in relationship with each of us, so as we seek Him daily and spend time with Him, our relationship deepens and becomes more intimate. (Proverbs 3:5-6) God is Personal and a Responder to us, but we have to continuously work at developing our own personal relationship with God. It takes intentionality and consistency to inquire with God about the next step, each day in our lives.
  • “God is a Rewarder of those who seek Him”, Matthew 6:33.

Additional Scriptures:

  • Philippians 2:12
  • Psalm 133:1
  • Hebrews 10:25
  • Micah 6:8

Let’s make a commitment to spending quality time, “fellowshipping” with the Lord daily!
