Numbers 23:19 – “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

2 Corinthians 1:20 – For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Pass the Test: James 1:12-16

Peirasmos – test, prove, trial, temptation

• tests/trials – anything that tests our faithfulness to God.
• temptation – anything that threatens to draw you away from God.

Love

• How God showed His love toward us: John 3:16
• How Jesus showed His love toward us: 1 John 3:16 
• How we should show our love toward God: John 14:15

Temptation (e.g. Genesis 2:16-17, 3:1-6):

• 1 John 2:16
• Lust of the Flesh – craving or desire of a sinful man, giving our natural need superiority over our spiritual needs.
• Lust of the Eye – cravings are often activated by what we see.
• Pride of Life – wanting things for the purpose of being able to boast about ourselves. (Ephesians 4:29-32)

Homework: 1) What did Jesus do the past the test: read Matthew 4:1-11, and 2) Look at God’s promise to you: 1 Corinthians 10:13
