Main Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-21
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Another spiritual purpose of fasting is “renouncing the natural and invoking the supernatural”.
- Fasting for supernatural guidance, help and protection (e.g. Ezra and Jehoshaphat)
- Ezra 8:21-31

- Fasting for supernatural power (filling of the Holy Spirit)
- Ephesians 3:20
Get Your Mind Right
- Set your face toward God, make upi your mind that you are going to fast and pray (Daniel 9:3)
- In this spiritual race, we have to discipline our body and bring it into subjection (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
When we fast as God has called us to, there are numerous “rewards” we receive.
- Isaiah 58:6-12
- Deliverance
- Light
- Health and Healing
- Righteousness
- deepened relationship with God
- Glory
- The presence of the Lord
- Answered Prayers
- Continual Guidance
- Satisfaction
- Strength
- Refreshment and Prosperity
- Restoration
Guard against external and internal spiritual attacks (Ephesians 6)
