I Am Never Alone: – (Isaiah 7:13-14, and 9:6-7) Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel…For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Jesus is the Son of God: Luke 1: 26-35
- We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, shed His blood on Calvary in our place, was buried, rose again, and ascended to the Father according to the Scriptures.
- Son of God is a title of Jesus based on His divine nature and equality with God the Father.
- We believe that there is only one true and living God existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is a distinct Person, but all of one essence and all having the same nature, perfections, and attributes, and each is worthy of precisely the same worship, confidence, and obedience (Genesis 1:1-3, 26; Matthew 3:16-17; John 1:1, 14; John 10:30; John 14:26; John 15:26; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7).
- Jesus is God (John 1:1)
- Jesus became flesh (John 1:14)
- Jesus, without ceasing to be God, was made man.
- Hypostatic Union – the Union of the Divine and human natures in the One Person of Jesus Christ – fully man and fully God at the same time (Philippians 2:5-11, Hebrews 4:14-15)
Jesus’ Divine Nature
- Begotten by the Holy Spirit
- Worshipped by the Angels
- Worshipped as God by the wise men and shepherds
- Highly exalted name
- Never sinned
Jesus’ Human Nature
- Born from a human mother
- Human body
- He grew and became strong
- Experienced human emotions
- Followed Jewish traditions
- In all points tempted/sympathize with our weaknesses
- Experienced death
