December 13, 2020 – Fruit of the Spirit (LOVE)

Fresh Start Christian Church
Service Outline – December 13, 2020

Current Teaching Series: “The Filing of the Holy Spirit”

Main Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-21

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Topic: Fruit of the Spirit – Love

Galatians 5:13-26

  • Everything God does He does out of love because He is love.
  • 1 John 4:7-21
  • Jesus demonstrated His love toward us by laying down His life.
  • 1 John 3:16-19
  • God’s agape love is in us through the Holy Spirit.
  • Romans 5:1-5

Therefore all we do should be out of love and based on our love for God and for people.

  • The characteristics of agape love
  • 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:8,13

Love is, does

Love is not, does not do

Suffers Long; Patient

Impatient

Kind

Mean

Encouraging; genuinely happy for others

Envy, boil over with jealousy

Humble

Parade itself,boastful

Humble

Puffed up, conceited, arrogant, inflated with pride

Kind, mannerly

Behave rudely, unmannerly or acting unbecomingly

Selfless

Seek its own, insist on its own rights, or its own way, not self seeking

Patient, slow to anger

Provoked, easily angered

Forgiving

Think evil, take any account of evil done to us

Rejoices in the truth

Rejoice in iniquity

Bears all things, bears up anything and everything that comes

Give up, bears up under some things when it is convenient

Believes all things, believes the best of every person

Look for the worst in people

Hopes all things, fadeless under pressure

Doubt all things, cynical (negative opinion about everything)

Endures all things without weakening, persevering

Give up, rejecting

Everlasting

Have an end, ending

Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking about yourself less.

When we allow the Holy Spirit to fill us we are able to demonstrate this kind of love.
