Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
Fresh Start Christian Church Belief Statement – Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, shed His blood on Calvary in our place, was buried, rose again and ascended to the Father according to the Scriptures (Luke 1:26-33).
- Why did Jesus have to come in the flesh? S.P.R.E.A.D
- S – To make the ultimate Sacrifice for our sin
- P – To fulfill the Prophecies
- R – To Reconcile us back to God
Man was in an estranged relationship with God
- Genesis 2:15-17
- Genesis 3:8-11, 22-24
- God was with Adam in the garden speaking with him. God placed a barrier in their relationship when Adam sinned.
- Isaiah 59:2, and 1 John 1:9 Our sin can separate us from God
- John 4:23-24 How we commune with God
Mankind experienced a spiritual death through Adam vs. a spiritual birth through Christ.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:23: Man is a 3-part being
- Spirit (Pneuma) dormant because of sin – spiritual death
- Soul (Psuche) thoughts, will, and emotions
- Body (Soma) physical man
Jesus reconciled all mankind to God
- Romans 5:10-11
- Ephesians 2:11-22
- John 3:5-8 New spiritual birth
- 2 Corinthians 5:14-20 New birth and reconciliation
- Romans 8:16 Children of God
Jesus is the only mediator between God and man.
- 1 Timothy 2:5-6
- John 14:6
- Hebrews 10:18-22 We are able to draw near to God and worship Him
Because of Jesus now we can have the relationship with God that Adam originally had in the garden.
- Our spirit is Alive.
- God is our Father.
- We can Feel His presence.
- He Speaks to us.
- No more Barriers (Direct Access)
