Main Scripture: Matthew 6:5-7
“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

The Model Prayer – Matthew 6:9-15
Jesus’ instruction regarding how to pray (Luke 11:1-4).
- Our prayers start with God first.
- Prayer is about relationship with God.
- We should pray in the powerful name of Jesus
- John 14:13-14
“Hallowed be Your Name”
- Acknowledge God’s name is holy.
- Knowing His name allows you to worship Him for who He is.
- The name of God is used for all the attributes of His being; it encompasses all the names of God.
- Exodus 3:13-15
- LORD – Yahweh, Jehovah
- Exodus 3:13-15
- Knowing the Name of God allows us to trust in His name
- Psalm 9:9-10
- Psalm 20:7
- Knowing the Name of God leads us to respect, reverence, and fear His name.
- There is reputation in God’s Name

God’s Holiness
- An unchanging characteristic of God’s nature
- Perfect freedom from all evil.
- 1 John 1:5
- Requires His judgment on those who abandon the way of holiness.

- Holiness is a lifestyle of obedience.
- Numbers 20:6-12
- Shows us the Deity-Worshipper Relationship in prayer.
- Understanding and acknowledging God’s Holiness is the basis of our worship
