“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Would God ever lead us to temptation?

James 1:13 –No. God will not lead us into temptation.
Temptation (Greek) peirasmos – test, prove, trial and temptation
- - James 1:2-3
    - tests and trials that God will guide you through and He allows for a reason.
      - Genesis 22:1-2, 12 (Abraham’s Test)
      - Deuteronomy 8:1-2 (Israel’s Wilderness Experience)
      - Romans 5:3
    - Pray for God to help you overcome the trial and temptation.
    - Prayer of Guidance
      - Psalm 23
    - Prayer of Protection
      - 1 Corinthians 10:13
      - Hebrews 4: 14-15 (ref: Luke 4:1-12)

Tactics Used by Satan to Tempt Man
1 John 2:15-16
Example: Genesis 3:1-13

Deceit – (verse 4) He tried to make you think the consequences of sin are not that severe. Remember: John 8:44
Delight – (verse 5) He will always bring something or someone that tantalizes your senses.
Desire – Sin becomes a pursuit: James 1:14
Deliberation – It is no longer a matter of if you will sin but when you will sin: James 1:15
Defeat – Satan’s victory: John 10:10

Jesus’ Blueprint for Victory
Matthew 4:1-11

Allow the Holy Spirit to lead us every day.
Be in a strong place with God: prayer & fasting (walk in the Spirit and deny the flesh).
Respond with the Word of God, the Truth (don’t be deceived)
Resist the devil and he will flee (run): James 4:7
